Thick Air Graphics & Print
I initially started Thick Air Graphics & Print in 2019 to make lot merch for Grateful Dead-adjacent events. The name “Thick Air” is a reference to a story from the recording sessions for the band’s third record AOXOMOXOA, wherein Bob Weir famously requested that the recording engineer add “the sound of THICK AIR” to the climax of the song ‘Born Cross-Eyed‘. Early sticker and button designs, centered around different aspects of Deadhead culture, were traded among the community, primarily by mail.
After shuttering at the onset of COVID lockdowns, in 2023 I started to use the moniker to design and produce posters, stickers, buttons, t-shirts, and the like for the broader underground music and arts community. As of winter 2025, the future of using Thick Air instead of my own name is… well, up in the air.
