My name is Dustin Krcatovich ("Dusty" if you're nasty). I'm a freelance designer, writer, and DJ currently based in Portland, Oregon. I am founder and sole proprietor — albeit with frequent collaboration and consultation from life/creative partner Micah Vanderhoof — of the "psychedelic lifestyle enhancement concern" IMPERMANENT PROJECTS (est. 2017). Impermanent Projects started as a record label and publisher, and it still is that when I get a chance. Recently, though, the focus has been on providing marketing and design services to local, nonprofit, or otherwise community-oriented clients.
Impermanent Projects also encompasses ongoing matters such as the mostly-vinyl "vibes for hire" of Golden Feelings DJ Services; the cult/genre film series Head Cleaner (a 50/50 collaboration between Micah and myself which started its life as a series at the Northwest Film Center); the improvised, dream-conjuring "healing music" of Skin Lies; and the Grateful Dead-worshiping design exercises of Thick Air Graphics.
My favorite things include, but are not limited, to: strange and/or subversive film, jazz, oddball Americana, 45 rpm records, record-setting balls of twine, 1990s scandals and TV movies based on same, oldies radio, the outer edges of popular culture in my home state of Michigan, The Grateful Dead, and the Buddhist "great fool" Ryokan. Not necessarily in that order.
Reportedly, a piece of my writing once deeply offended a member of the Squirrel Nut Zippers.
